Construction work on the Kenilworth Rail Station site will now begin this year and will be completed in early 2017, with passenger services from Kenilworth operational later in 2017.
Network Rail will be carrying out significant infrastructure works during 2017, including signalling upgrades and the relaying of the track through Kenilworth. These works are required to enable the new train service to operate for Kenilworth Station. Both projects are now aligned to ensure delivery of an operational station from August 2017.
Warwickshire County Council and train operator London Midland are working hard to ensure that everything is in place for the start of passenger services in 2017, including sourcing the appropriate diesel rolling stock to operate the service at a time when diesel trains are in high demand.
